My Favorite Fall 2024 Home Trends

Color drenching

Color drenching is a huge trend recently that involves painting an entire room in one color—doors, trim, walls, ceiling, EVERYTHING. It may sound intimidating, but it’s the easiest, cheapest and most impactful way to turn up the drama in a space. Bonus points if you paint room elements you want to stand out in a different sheen than the walls. I really want to paint a room a deep burgundy in an eggshell on the walls and ceiling, but in a semi-gloss on the trim and doors.

Burgundy everything

Speaking of burgundy (like that smooth segue?), this color is everywhere this fall. It’s in everything from smaller decor pieces to kitchen cabinets, and lends a warm pop of color to any room. Even though it’s a current trend, burgundy is such a classic color that I don’t think it’ll ever go out of style.

Chrome Accents

Chrome accents have been making a comeback in recent months. I love mixing chrome and steel tones with brass and iron for a collected and curated effect. It looks a bit higher end than making all your metals too matchy-matchy.

Sculptural Statement Lighting

I firmly believe that lighting can make or break a room, and I’m definitely one of those “we don’t use the big light” households. A good combination of uplighting, downlighting, task lighting and mood lighting can create the exact vibe you want a room to have. I love the newer trend of introducing sculptural lighting to your home that makes a statement. My style tends to lean a little grandma, so it’s helpful to incorporate a funky mid-century sculptural table lamp to keep it from teetering over that edge.
